About

"To Our Customers" Kongo Chemical Co., Ltd. was established in October 1941 to manufacture Vitamin B1 and its derivatives and celebrated its 70th Anniversary in 2011. At that time, Kongo was one of the rare chemical companies specialized in organic synthesis on industrial scales in Toyama Prefecture. Since its establishment, Kongo has been contributing to domestic as well as foreign pharmaceutical companies through manufacturing of various active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and pharmaceutical intermediates. In recent years, Kongo has been aggressively devoting custom synthesis of intermediates with complex structures for new medicines, in addition to in-house API-products. Many Kongo’s expert chemists are making every effort to meet various requirements on such contract manufacturing subjects and are solving problems on process optimization and industrial-scale production. It is well known that APIs and pharmaceutical intermediates have to be manufactured under strict quality control. Kongo has intended to properly and timely meet such requirements and has constructed and has been constructing reliable relationships with its customers. It is undoubtedly essential in the recent pharmaceutical industry to continuously improve and update quality assurance systems and to stably manufacture APIs with high quality. Furthermore, development of a competitive process is strongly requested. Recently it is important responsibility for API manufacturers to timely provide customers with accurate information on their products in the global information era 　of 　IT. In order to aggressively expand and accelerate custom synthesis business and development of generic APIs, Kongo has made the following investments in plant and equipment: ・expansion of medium- and large-sized facilities for custom synthesis(2009 and 2010) ・construction of a new multi-purpose plant(2011) ・installation of a new clean room/Class 100,000(2012) In order to contribute to chemistry and improvement of quality of life, Kongo continuously makes every effort to evolve its technologies and QA/QC-systems.

This applies to Schedule H2 medicines. The final notification expands earlier draft requirements by mandating qualitative excipient details in QR codes on product packaging. This should enhance transparency and support patient safety. Meanwhile, US pharmaceutical groups have responded to the US Food and Drug Administration’s draft guidance proposing simplified pathways for replacing color additives in drug products. Industry associations have supported draft guidance, noting that it reduces regulatory burden while maintaining product quality and consistency.
