CAR T therapy has proven to be a breakthrough for some blood cancers, but has yet to demonstrate success in the much larger need in solid tumors. Longbow's core technology was developed in Dr. Weiguo Cui's laboratory at the Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin, in collaboration with practicing oncologists. The technology, named "ReACT", utilizes the patients' own cancer fighting immune cells, modifies them to be more active in tumors, and avoids off-target side-effects that have limited other CAR T therapy approaches.
