We’re Teva UK Limited, a leader in UK healthcare, supplying a wide range of medicines to the UK health service in a wide range of disease areas. We’ve been around for almost 80 years and supply more packs of medicines to the National Health Service than anyone else1. Today we specialise in both generic and branded medicines, improving the lives of patients, whether it is by fighting infections, controlling cholesterol, relieving the symptoms of asthma, or providing lifesaving injectable medicines and pain relief for cancer sufferers. Our medicines are used in hospitals, pharmacies and clinics. British map We’re the UK arm of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd; that means we're part of one of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies in the world. With over a century of experience in pharmaceuticals, Teva is a big player on the world stage, which brings considerable benefits to us in the UK. As well as providing hundreds of generic medicines which are supplied to the country’s thousands of pharmacies and dispensaries, we also supply medicines to treat multiple sclerosis, cancer, pain, Parkinson’s disease and respiratory disorders like asthma. A global perspective Globally, Teva is the world's leading generic drug maker, with a range of more than 1,000 molecules, with a presence in around 60 countries. Teva's Specialty Medicines businesses focus on conditions affecting the central nervous system, respiratory, oncology, pain, and women's health as well as biologics. Teva currently employs approximately 45,000 people around the world and reached $20.3 billion in net revenues in 2013. find out more about Teva Pharmaceutical Industries > A portfolio of over 1,000 molecules  At a global level, Teva has one of the broadest medicines pipeline in the industry. That means we in the UK can be in a strong position to bring generic versions of branded medicines to market on the first day of patent protection ending. Generic medicines are typically sold at a substantially lower price to their branded medicine counterparts, as the development process is generally less costly. That means generic medicines bring significant savings to the NHS medicines bill – estimates are that generic medicines save the NHS around £10 billion every single year, compared to the cost if their branded equivalents had been dispensed2. This frees up valuable NHS resources. We also have a strong pipeline of innovative medicines at various developmental stages and in addition are actively investigating novel uses for existing treatments. What that means for patients in the UK We supply more packs of medicine to the NHS each year than anyone else – that's around 15% of total packs of medicine in the UK. Millions of patients throughout the country benefit from our medicines. We estimate that, on average, every second of every day, over 250 tablets or capsules supplied by us are taken by patients all around the UK[1]. Learn more about how we make and supply our medicines  Generic and innovative medicines We're constantly developing new medicines that patients need – adding to our medicines range with generic and branded therapies. A whole range of people work together to bring a new medicine to market: it's a real collaborative approach, not just in the UK but with our colleagues from around the world. Generic medicines It takes between eight and 10 years to launch a generic medicine. The early years are spent investigating patents and working on the formulation. As the timeline counts down, the activities focus around gaining the licence, designing the packaging and working with our supply chain to ensure the medicine becomes available for patients as soon as the patent protection has expired. Innovative medicines It can take 10-15 years to develop an innovative medicine. These medicines show distinct advantages, or enhanced new benefits for patients, to already existing therapies. Consequently, costs of development consistently rise and development time is continually increasing. IVAX LLC researches, develops, manufactures, and markets pharmaceutical products worldwide.
