Based in Lugano, Switzerland, IBSA started its activities at a national level but rapidly became a well consolidated company worldwide. IBSA markets its products in 4 continents: in more than 70 countries, including the US. IBSA’s history can be divided into 2 main periods: the years from 1945 to 1985 go from the foundation to the national consolidation. In 1985 the current management took over and completely re-defined the company strategy leading to the first international development and to the present success. 1985 A NEW YEAR, A NEW OWNER, A NEW STRATEGY 1985 was the year of “changes”: an intensive development program was implemented with the aim of enlarging the company assets and creating a competitive product portfolio to be extended to international markets. Currently IBSA has a head count of 1800 employees and sells its products covering 7 main therapeutic areas in 4 continents and more than 70 countries. Each year the company manufactures about 12 millions vials of hormones, more than 200 millions soft gel capsules and about 60 millions packages of finished products. Company Strategy IBSA has developed a series of niche-oriented, proprietary technologies allowing a qualitative improvement of already available and widely-used molecules and therapeutic solutions. Thanks to an in-depth competence in various activities ranging from basic research to pre-clinical and clinical development, high manufacturing quality, regulatory expertise and direct marketing of proprietary products, IBSA established the company on a worldwide basis through partnerships and local branches in Italy, France, Hungary, Slovak Republic, Poland, Turkey and China.
