MAC is owned and operated by Scott Brower, William McHugh and Marc Weichelt, whom are all Nuclear Pharmacists. Scott Brower and William McHugh also own and operate Mid-America Isotopes, Inc. in Ashland, MO. MU is represented by Ralph Butler who is the Director of the Missouri University Research Reactor (MURR).
The facility was completed in August of 2007 and began daily operations in October. EI has been in continuous operation since that time providing Mid-Missouri with radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging.
Facility
The cyclotron is a PETtrace 800 built by General Electric. The cyclotron produces positron emitting isotopes which are used in EI's USP 797 and cGMP compliant manufacturing area. The GE MX is currently the main synthesis platform. An Eckert Ziegler module is used to produce PET radiopharmaceuticals for Phase II and III investigational research. There is abundant room for expansion in the manufacturing are and multiple hot cells could be added for future work.
Location
The facility is located on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. The metropolitan areas of St. Louis and Kansas City are within easy reach of the facility. Currently EI provides PET radiopharmaceuticals to the local market, St. Louis, and Kansas City.
