The history of our prospering Corporate Group began in 1915 with the first industrial scale caustic soda manufacturing of Japan utilizing our original electrolysis technology. Ever since then, we have continued to be a pioneer of the chlor-alkali industry in Japan and have contributed to the development of chemical industry in Japan. To reflect the growth of our business, the corporate name was changed in 1988 from OSAKA SODA CO., LTD. to DAISO CO., LTD. The scope of the DAISO business has expanded greatly and we now manufacture chemical products that leverage our independently developed technologies in a variety of areas, including basic chemicals, functional chemicals, electrodes, fine chemicals, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and pharmaceutical intermediates, biotechnology and the resource recycling sector. As the Group approaches the 100th anniversary of its foundation in 2015, we are working to expand our business even further and have set a new vision for the Group. This vision is to become the "Best Company" growing by business expanision of specialty chemicals. In our "NEXT FRONTIER-100" medium-term management plan for fiscal years 2014 to 2018, we will take on the challenge of the realization of this Group vision by concentrating efforts on "new product and new business creation" and on "overseas business expansion." We will also promote the development of our health care related business and the reconstruction and reinforcement of our existing business. We will place the highest priority on corporate compliance in our business operations and also proactively address environmental and safety issues through Responsible Care activities to fulfill our responsibility to society as we continually strive to remain a corporate group that is trusted by society
